The consequences of stress and not knowing...
      #197423 - 06/24/06 10:23 AM

Hi everyone, hope all is well. I just wanted to let everyone know after years of putting myself at risk and worrying about the possibilty of being positive, I finally tested last week. It was negative. I found out on the same day that I was calling in for my results that I was also pregnant.

I freaked myself out so much and was so convinced that I was positive, although I didn't actually ask to hear it. I assumed from a statement made by the rep at Home Access that I was. I called my boyfriend of 5 years right away and told him what happened. I spent the entire afternoon calling hotlines and looking for doctors. Only to call back Home Access and hear that I was negative.

This morning I went to the doctor and found out that I lost my baby. I was only 5 weeks pregnant and the stress that I put myself through on Wednesday caused me to miscarry.

I am posting my story to let everyone know that if you are at risk for being infected with HIV, find out the truth! Stress does crazy things to your body and your immune system. And not knowing for me was worse than knowing.

I've learned a lot from this experience and I hope sharing it with others helps you to build up enough courage to find out your status. Don't wait till your pregnant to test.

Gia, that's great. Now protect your negative status. Don't ever put yourself at risk again by having unprotected sex. Remember, no glove no love.
