hiv from dipping? help!
      #196667 - 06/19/06 03:32 PM

hey. so i left a message last night that wasnt clear. sorry. basically, i had protected receptive anal sex. BUT in the very beginning we did 'dip' where he stuck it in me once for about 2 seconds and i immediately told him to pull out which he did, put the glove on and we're good. the reason i get nervous is that i do have really sensitive membranes around rectum and perhaps on the very inside and so i dont know if precum came in contact or not. the guy is neg from november, but not since so his viral load would be higher if he was recently infected. i am freaking out a bit. i did hear from some of you, but again i know my last question was not clear.

lastly, do people get sick within 48 hours? does seroconversion sickness happen this fast? i felt flu symptoms all day yestereday so i wondered. but thought this takes longer....if poz, of course.

While it is unlikey that you would become infected from such a brief encounter, if the person is HIV positive, and you are in the 72 hour window, you could get PEP.

Have your partner take an HIV test, if he is negative, you have nothing to worry about.

The chances of such a short encounter infecting you are small.

If the 72 hours have passed, get an HIV test 13 weeks past exposure.

ARS is between 2-4 weeks after exposure. While symptoms can not be relied on most often it is described as Flu like.
