syphilis & HIV

Hi,
My VDRL came out +ve with 1:16 titre and TPHA was +ve while HIV came out -ve in week 5. Doctor confirmed it as syphilis and gave me my first penicillin jab and some medication to be taken for two weeks.
After the medication, my rash had gone but i still had tinglish feeling and muscle and joints pain on a off. I had my second jab two weeks after my 2nd jab and medication for 1 week. The doctor said I should be fine after this.
How ever, 2 days after my 2nd jab i see few small red rash has appeared in my hand(arm) and thigh. This has made me scared.
Now i'm wondering if the treatment has failed as I might have got coinfection with HIV.
Can HIV coinfection make the syphilis treatment to fail. Did my treatment fail? or is this normal. can someone advice me.
I'll be doing my after week 8 test coming monday but I'm so scared as i'm not sure if i;ve HIV.

I would consult with your Dr. On rare occasions a patient might need a second round of treatment. As far as HIV ,your 8-week test will confirm your status. A NEG. 5-week test with no evidence of fever would suggest you did not contract HIV. Good luck. D.J.
