Prostitutes vs.safe sex
      #19606 - 07/21/01 09:34 PM

Is there such a thing as safe sex with a prostitute?
Barring condom failure, should there really be a concern?

This is not a moral issue for me, it is a serious inquiry.
Background is I am a single father raising 2 children devoting my time to my children and do not want a relationship as of yet nor do I want to waste someones time dating knowing I am not persuing anything at this point or anything like that. Just need a little bit of release every now and then. Am I crazy for thinking this?

That's the same attitude *I* took.

While the condom remained intact, and while I turned out to be ok......... I'd suggest that you give it long and hard thought. If you think it could lead to spending long nights lying awake wondering who will eventually provide for your children - my advice is don't go there.

However, barring condom failure the statistical answer to your question is yes.

Been There Done That - won't be going back.

Hiya,

Yes, there is such a thing as safe sex with a prostitute. Proper use of a latex condom for all sexual acts (including oral sex) will ensure, for the most part, that you do not contract HIV or other sexually transmitted diseases. Be aware, though, that it is possible for genital herpes and HPV (human papilloma virus - the virus that causes genital warts) to be transmitted even when using a condom. This is because microscopic warts, or herpes lesions, may come in contact with skin that is not covered by the condom.

I am aware that this is not a moral issue for you; however, have you considered other ways of relieving sexual tension? The fact that you posted your question here leads me to believe that there is a part of you that's concerned about jeopardizing your health. In all honesty, STD's can be passed even between people who know each other well - diseases are not limited to prostitutes. So I wonder if perhaps there is some underlying concern or anxiety about your decision. Whatever the case, it's great that you are trying to look out for your own best interests, and if you do find that this solution does not work for you, consider other alternatives, such as masturbation. Good luck :)

Copper

Well I am thinking about it very hard that is the reason I am here and I thank you and Copper for your responses.
I am just being cautious as I do have children. I have tried the different options as copper suggested and it's just that isn't the same as having a partner. I have even gone so far as to have had oral with a sex worker, it is going all the way that I want to be sure about. I have asked the experts and hopefully I will get a reply.
That or find someone looking for the same thing without strings attached but who is to say that they are neg. and what would I do for that? place an add in the paper? I could just see it now.
Thanks again
