Hello....wierd question, how do I tell if the lymph nodes in my armpit are swollen? I am having some discomfort in that area and didn't know if it is HIV or not. I tested negative at 2 months with a quick blood test, so im just not sure? Currently I am on antibiotics for a sinus infection, not sure if this could affect it also? Has anyone else experienced pain like this and turned out to be negative? I know I could possibly be driving myself crazy looking for sympoms, I think it is just cause I am so close to being out of the window period and can get back to normal life that im getting so stressed out. I am going for another test at the end of this month.

Symptoms like swollen glands don't mean you have HIV. You tested negative at 8 weeks so this is highly indicative of the fact that you don't have HIV. Remember the average infected person has detectable antibodies within 25 days of exposure. Expect another negative result at 13 weeks. You're almost at the 3 month mark, I know it's tough, but hang in there!

Why is it that people always worry about the lymph nodes when they swell in the neck or armpits. If a person is infected with HIV all the lymph nodes in the ENTIRE body will swell. From the top of their heads to the tip of their toes. If you are worried about one or two that seem swollen, it isn't HIV.

See....this is a perrfect example of what you should NOT be worrying about. You have no idea where your other lymph nodes are.....but someone will tell you or you'll look it up on line and you'll spend the next month poking yourself until you are black and blue and convince yourself they are swollen....when, in fact even if they are doesn't mean you have HIV. As Eric said, his never swelled! And David's swelled and that is what led to his testing for HIV...and he has repeatedl said that that HIV was the BEST POSSIBLE sceneario of what the doctors were looking for. We can't (and I am including myself in this lecture) assume that everything that is wrong with us is HIV....HIV is one of MILLIONS of illnesses that are out there....it has the same symptoms as hundreds or thoughsand of other diseases....or has NONE at all. Stop focusing on your body so much....test one more time at 3 months and let this go....if you are sick, see a doctor as it could be something NON HIV related. My biggest concern here is that people focus so much on HIV because of the stigma and fear of it that they may overlook something else that could be potentially more dangerous if left untreated!
