paralyzed with fear
      #194810 - 06/06/06 10:21 PM

Last friday I went to local health clinic for HIV test through blood draw. Between 2 lab workers, they had a confusion and discarded the blood of previous patient. In this commotion I shifted my attention momentarily on to other lady in the meantime the person drawing my blood was ready with the needle. I do not know where she grabbed the needle from. she was quick and hesitated to ask her to get a new needle. I am afraid she may have used a contaminated needle on me and am worried even more. So , far I had 3 oraquick tests out to 14 weeks, all negative. I cannot wait another 6 months, last 3 months were hell. I think it is too late for PEP too. I am hating myself for not trusting the other 3 tests.

As you were told on aidsmed you do need to seek the help of a mental health professional. I am sorry you have these fears, but they are unreal. Please help yourself, and get over this horrible fear you have. Good luck.

Yeah, it's a bitch when you can't believe all those other test results. Seems you are giving yourself the punishment you deserve for over testing. Serves ya right.

You didn't have another exposre from getting tested. Confusion or not. Hope you like the hell you live in. If you get tired of it, then get the help you really need. See a mental health counselor.

well, if you're neg at 14 weeks, then you are probably negative. most people who have it will test positive within 12 weeks.

secondly, if they did stick you with a contaminated needle and you become positive, you could sue them for everything they have so either way you come out a winner.
