HIV2 - Do I need to test for this??????? HELPPP

I was with someone from South Africa. (unprotected) Took HIV tests out to 10 months, negative. Should I test for HIV2?? Now I am freaking out all over again!!! Please help me. He is a young white hetero male. I am female. With each other twice. What do you think?

sure, go tell the clinic you was with someone from south africa and tell them you want to test for both 1 & 2....
most testing today, will pick em both up, but for your mental state, go ask for it*

HIV-2 is most prevalent in west African countries. I don't know its prevalence in South Africa. HIV-1 is most prevalent in the US and other western countries.
Sometimes, a test for HIV-1 will show weakly positive when HIV-2 is found or indeterminate, so your HIV-1 test at 10 months is highly indicative that you're not infected with either HIV-1 or HIV-2.
If you continue to be anxious it might be a good idea to test for HIV-2 also but you're no doubt fine because you've tested negative on a HIV-1 test out to 10 months.

Current ELISA's will pick up HIV-2 60-90% of the time. If you are concern about HIV-2, there get tested for it, but it's highly unlikely you were infected.
What are you doing having unprotected sex in Africa?? You know better, used condoms.

I wasn't in Africa. He was living here, came here to play a sport over here, lived in a VERY ritzy vacation town. Like I said, he is white, young, straight male. Usually always wore condoms (that's what he told me) but said he actually hadn't had that many sexual experiences. I will check with the lab. This will be my third test, all from big labs.
