okay for some who dont know there are two types of ultrasounds...one that goes on the stomach, and the other one where they put a wand up your vagina to check out your ovaries. Well recently i just got both of those ultrasound tests done...and I am concerned that what if the nurse forgot to change the latex cover that they put over the wand...would it be possible to contract hiv this way from the patient before me? The wand was not entered into my vagina until about 7-10min after I entered the room. I am freaking out because recently I have gotten sick even though I already got the flu about a few months ago before the ultrasound, its not likely for me to get sick all the time...any help?
also...is it possible for lube to keep hiv alive for a longer period of time?

no its not possible.....and furthermore, hospital MAKE money, the arent in the business to be constantly sued, the wands are cleaned appropriately. many times for convenience the wand is prepared before-hand (the latex cover)

HIV isn't the issue, your irrational fear is. You can do something about it. Please make an appointment to see a mental health professional.

yah i guess...maybe it was the fact that she was a student that freaked me out...
i have heard that sharing dildos can transfer the virus, thats the only reason why i am worried.

I worked at a place where I had to change the condom I always made sure I changed it but sometimes other people would room my patient and then I would go in with the doctor to help him and find that they didn't change it. I would stop everything before the doctor but that in but yes there are stupid health care professionals that don't think. Thats why I perfer the plastic speculum over the metal

No risk whatsoever!!! DO NOT worry about this. You should have OTHER things to put you thoughts into other than this incident!! No need to worry!! EVEN IF they reused the wand, it would still be NO WORRY for HIV!!

hiv doesn't survive for very long outside the body. so unless the other woman had that thing shoved up her very soon before you you did, the virus wouldn't be alive (with or without lube). But I think you should give the nurse enough credit to know to change the latex after every patient.
