Hello to you all, I wanted to give you some information about HIV Test in Sweden were I live. Sweden have the strongest Disesase control department in the World. The main focus is to prevent others from HIV and more. They are saying that 3 month is the upper limit to see if someone is positive or negative and no further testing is needed after 3 month, In sweden they are discussing with the best HIV experts and Specialists about lower the window down to 8 weeks but Disesase control deparment says no until we have all the facts that this is correct. In sweden we have around 5000-6000 HIV and AIDS patients and around 270-300 new cases each year and most of these patients is drug users and person that have recieved the disease in another countries. So the study done in sweden have showed that all persons have developed antibodys before 8 weeks and this study´is only done in persons with a primary infection and the date for exposure was knowed. This date is more easier to find in sweden because almost all new sexuell cases is in a another countries, we don´t have so many(almost zero) cases that have been exposed to the virus on a saturday night after visiting a pub or a disco. We also have Doctors that still are saying 6 month for a definite answer but they are not HIV experts and specialists and in sweden we had our first HIV patient around 1982 and in the beginning we had also 6 month and now we have 3 month for a definite answer and if we should have someone taking longer than 3 month we should have noticed this know. The most of the delayed seroconversions I have heard about is from USA in Sweden and the most countries in europe we only uses 6 month if someone have recieved HIV medication after a possible needle injury or exposure. I have put myself in a risk in another countries were HIV is much bigger than in USA and Iám satisfied with my 3 month test and I will relie on our experts and doctors and our study. I understand you all that don´t rely on a 3 month test, you have had 6 month for a long time now and I wondering if your goverment should lower the window down to 3 month should you trust them or should you go for the 6 month still? In sweden we have had some person that have tried to spread HIV but they are in jail or they have left sweden now and they are wanted outside sweden now but one person slept with 100 girls only 10% were protected and only one got HIV. Hopes this will help some of you. Regards S

Hi! In sweden a HIV specialist that working for a big hospital in sweden since 1998 saying that "He" don´t think that anyone taking longer than 8 weeks and he doesn´t recommend retesting after 8 weeks after possible exposure also sweden biggest hospital with most HIV patients are saying 8 weeks BUT they recommends 12 Weeks still, because they need the data to change the window down to 8 weeks, the only cases they uses 6 month is when someone have recieved HIV medication after possible exposure. In sweden we don´t use today Rapid HIV test and we don´t use some other test like oral, urine or Home access kit and these will not ever be approved in Sweden, Maybe Rapid HIV test will be approved later. Regards S
