I've read alot about oral sex, all of which says that there has never been an undisputed case of someone getting HIV from receieving oral sex, which I had. Does anyone know if that information is up-to date, very nervous here, first bi-sexual experience. Just want to know if theres been alot of disputed cases my doctor doesn't feel I should test. Thank You

Receiving oral sex is a very low risk activity. There is a theoretical risk involved, that means highly unlikely but COULD happen in theory. If the person was HIV positive and had sores in their mouth. It is possible that they can transfer the virus in that manner. But again it is highly unlikely. And since your doc said it's not worth testing, I would take his word for it. If you're still concerned, contact the CDC. They have all the latest information. I hope this helps

The risk of transmission is as low as any sexual activity you can perform. The person must have open wounds in the mouth that are discharging enough infected fluid to infect your mucous membranes. You do not indicate your sex, but I understand how a first time sexual encounter can lead you to fear especially when it is of the same sex--society tends to lead you to this fear. Hang in there and follow your doctor's advice...The odds are completely in your favor.
