Help! In August, I developed a yeast infection. Alarmed (I get these rarely), I had an HIV test. It came back negative. In Nov., my long-time boyfriend developed (what he claimed his dr. said was) a bad case of jock itch. His HIV test was negative. In Apr, at my well woman exam, I had another yeast infection, but my HIV test that day was negative again. This week, boyfriend developed a rash in the chin area. Immediately, I got scared and started checking myself for symptoms of ARS--rashes send my mind into overdrive. Well yesterday, his doctor diagnosed the "rash" as folliculitis and, instead of treating it as the common bacterial variety, prescribed an antifungal. Website after website report that the fungal variety is usually seen in immuno-compromised individuals. Since then, I have of course developed symptoms of another yeast infection, been feeling my lymph nodes, checking for fever etc. I know my mind is own worst enemy--my dr prescribed wellbutrin because of my obsessive thinking and depression. On the other hand, I AM NOT making up these fungal infections. Is it worth it to go have an OraQuick Monday when my last test was April 13 and boyfriend and I have had sex regularly in the interim? Could HIV be the cause of our fungal symptoms if we were negative at the time of those symptoms? Could the new fungal symptoms be signs of initial HIV infection or do HIV-related fungal systems only occur as the disease progresses towards AIDS? I need help!

hiv-related fungal infections, thrush,etc....takes awhile of HAVING hiv to show up. The hiv progresses rather slowly, and has to have your immune system moderately-to-severely compromised before things like fungal infections start. In other words, you would have to have Hiv for a few years at the least, before that starts.
Yeast infections are very commen and in some women, they do become frequent. (without hiv present) Its is possible to pass those infections back and forth between yourself and your mate. In many cases they arent the eaasiest thing to cure. Especially if they are being passed between one another*
as far as HIV goes...Take the Test , Know your status. Knowing your status is the single biggest tool, in your hiv toolbox.
In closing, all medical concerns should be addressed with the proper doctors and not on the internet

Yeast infections can be a sign of HIV infection, but they certainly don't HAVE to be. In other words, healthy people get yeast infections, too. And I've had jock itch myself (I'm negative), so that's no big deal either.
You've tested consistently negative. As long as you and your boyfriend have been monogamous for at least three months prior to your last negative tests, and ever since, you have nothing to worry about. You've had two confirmed yeast infections in nine months, which doesn't seem all that out of hand to me.

thank you all. still debating about another test, but since I get the oraquick, I don't want to spend $70 if I don't have to!
