I had what I consider "night sweats"....Approximately 10-12 days after "exposure". They lasted may 4 nights or so, haven't had trouble since. Woke up sweating at night, not DRENCHED...just kinda sticky sweaty on my shoulders, forehead and neck.
No fevers, diahrea, nausea, vomiting, etc etc. Basicly, no "flu like" symptoms.
The only other thing I had was a rash. Just on my stomach and breasts..which Im attributing to laying on my stomach in the tanning bed, as this "rash" stopped at a definite line where my underwear started!! It was itchy and looked like little welts in those areas. Benadryl cream and hydrocortisone cleared it up within 3 days.....
No mouth sores, or issues with my mouth at all.
No weight loss or appetite change. Ok...maybe more of an appetite lately! :) So definitely no weight loss.
Exposure was semi-unprotected sex with a male friend of mine. (Im female). The condom was used at the end. No ejaculation inside of me.
Thoughts please??? Especially the night sweats and rash. Those two, and the fact they came at the same time really scares me!!!!

Hi there
welcome to the worried well section. the good things for you are
1. Symptoms and hiv are not that directly related. that is evident on this forum from people who eventually test neg.
2. experts often insist that symptoms appear between 2-4 weeks, and are often a constellation, usually always characterised by flu like illness and a fever is also almost always there.
3. there is no alternative to test at 3 months. many of us will test at 6 weeks too for peace of mind.
hope you dont stress yourself too much over this.

what you describe is simply sweating....hiv-related nightsweats will soak your bedding, your pillow, your clothes become almost wringable. your whole body sweats, not just one particular area, most commenly occurs in the later stages of hiv/aids* But is a very very drenching sweat*
Use condoms from start to finish....ALWAYS*

What you describe are not really "night sweats." Instead, you'e just sweating at night, probably because it's hot! And the tanning bed could definitely be at the root of the rash -- I often get a rash when I go out in the sun.
However, if you had sex without a condom for even part of the time, that could be a risk. So if you're concerned, definitely get a test.
