Your a vetern here and I have mad respect for you and your wisdom on this subject. With all do respect after looking thru a lady who posted a while back about her husband infecting her she stated that she did not turn positive in the time frame you mentioned, what are your thoughts on this? As long as you have been on this site is there anyone that you can think of that stated they did in fact turn positive after 3 months?

Thanks for your time
Her post name is Daisey and you have to back far to read her story.

if your read back, its quite obvious her case was clear case of "human error" with a new testing procedure (oraquick). The most commen being with orquick you have a ceratin timeframe to soak the the swab specimon in the chemical solution, if i recall it correctly, i believe its 20 mins... However, this has to be accurately done, 1 minute too long or too short, can yield innaccurate results in those tests.

She did take an Elisa blood draw at 2 1/2-3 months which was positive. most likely she was seroconverted in the normal range. She just ran into the situation of inexperienced people using a newly marketed test incorrectly. Keep in mind, no one is even close to perfect, and especially in this kind of lab field, a new procedure is gonna have some hang ups, until people use it, and learn the ropes correctly.

I personally dont think miss daisey converted late, nothing points to it. everything does point to incompetant administration of a new testing procedure, that she checked against the standard Elisa blood draw, she fell within that window.

in fact her first post ..

what it says is....
I just tested pos. I found out for sure on the 2nd of Sept. My husband found out he was pos. 2 weeks before we married (06/20/05). I waited my 3 months and tested also.

she waited the 3 months to test, but in reality, she most likely seroconverted, in the normal range of 21-49 days after infection.....if you read through her posts, one week after declaring her positive results she makes a statement that she has had 4 positive results* > http://www.thebody.com/cgi-bin/bbs/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=testpos&Number=159995&page=&view=&sb=5&o=&vc=1
then theres this account > http://www.thebody.com/cgi-bin/bbs/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=infected&Number=160121&page=&view=&sb=5&o=&vc=1

the story varies/fluctuates, but again, no one is perfect. I think you are wrong dragging daisey into the middle of all this to justify your own personal disbeliefs*

Just because a person waits til after 3 months then tests and it comes up positive, does NOT mean they were a late seroconverter......if that would be the case, Id be in the record books*

Daisey seroconverted by three months, which is within the normal window period. Her story was unusual for several reasons, but in the end, she was positive by ELISA and WB at three months.

I didn't mean to drag her into this at all. She has more then once provided info regarding her case so I tool that as something she didn't mind people asking about. I'm very sorry if I got you upset, if she didn't want to be brought up I think she may have not posted all her history.

thank you all, but i am not upset at all. i dont want drug through the mud and people talking crap about me is all i request, i do not feel you were attacking me.... thank you a2h, i appreciate you coming to my defense, you are wonderful.
yes, my story does fluctuate, i have tried to clear it up. in the end it all has boiled down to stupid people should not work in the medical field, at all. improper training of idiots does no one any good. new tests that should have obviously been tested longer would do the world a favor. i have very little respect for what i went through to get to the point i am now and i pitty anyone that ever has to go through a similiar situation as i did. it was horrible, but i have learned from it. in time we all do, no matter what kind of ride we were on when we found out we were hiv+.
best of luck to you.
daisey
