hello. i've been having horrible anxiety and haven't been able to sleep very well. I messed around with a confirmed HIV positive person. I rubbed my penis along his butt, touching his anus, but there wasn't any penetration at all. Also, I tested negative 7 weeks after this incident. Please give me your opinion on if I will be ok. The doctor at medhelp.org says that virtually everyone will test positive by 6 weeks. He said the percentage was 98-99% and that he's never seen anyone test positive after having tested negative at 6 weeks. He's the senior research leader or something at the University of Washington, too. Well, get back to me, people.

the first thing you need to look at is risks. then window period.
1. your actions were not risky and are unlikly to cause hiv infection. 2. you have tested at 7 weeks, which is very encourging and not suprising based on the actions you described.
so i would say your in the clear, but most would recommend a test at 13 weeks to make it conclusive, it is unliky that your 7 week test is going to change if you decide to take a 13 week test.

With out insertion, there were not means to allow the virus to be transmitted to you. Since you did not have a risk, a 7 week test is conclusive.

i'm the original poster. i want to thank you for your kind and reassuring words. i literally haven't been able to think of anything but the possibility that i might have hiv for a little over a week now, and it's been very horrible. with the knowledge that a 7 week test is considered nearly 100 percent reliable to a distinguished scientist at medhelp.org, and that without insertion there really isn't any way to get blood on me, I am going to try and wind down and relax and just forget. will try meditation. thanks again.

It's an amazing thing. You and so many others come hear to get advise from anonymous posters after as you have just said a well respected Doctor confirmed a 6 week test is very reliable. Now you will get all upset by some of these ill informed posts that are writen by some nuts that you might be doomed. Listen to your Doc., pick a few good posters here to believe if you must and move on with your life. D.J.

Since you've had no risk, there's no reason to suspect that 7-week test isn't accurate. In other words, you're fine.
