PCR-DNA
      #18852 - 06/30/01 07:30 PM

Is the PCR-DNA test conclusive if taken 4-5 weeks after possible exposure to HIV? Will I need to test again?

Many physicians would argue that a negative test after 4-5 weeks would be properly able to diagnose infection with PCR DNA HIV test. However, this test may be falsly negative. I suggest testing again at 3 months.

That makes sense. I want my test to turn up negative, but want it to be a true negative. I'll feel pretty comfortable with the outcome (if negative), but WILL get tested again in three months or so just to make sure.
