would your viral load be over 400 after 6 months exposure? In normal situations, yes. I do know some with no viral load (like myself), but they still test HIV+ on a normal HIV test. If you are actually infected you will test HIV+ by week 12/13 on a standard test.

Since you posted in the 'Am I Infected", I am assuming that you have not been diagnosed with HIV.
Viral load tests look for fragments of HIV, either floating around freely in the bloodstream or inside cells in the bloodstream.
It's important to realize that the FDA has not approved any of the viral load test for the diagnosis of HIV infection. While they are, indeed, sensitive tests, meaning that they can detect even the tiniest amounts of HIV in a blood sample, they are not always specific, meaning that they can sometimes yield a false-positive result. All negative or postive results need to be confirmed by an ELISA before a diagnoses can be made.
In your case at 400 copies, it is likely a false positive.

Reread the post, the test he took only is detectable from 400 copies up. He did not test 400 copies.
