Does anyone know of anyone who tested negative at the 6 week mark following a risky sexual encounter and then subsequently tested positive?

here is my take on this. 6 weeks puts you over the 90% mark and I have even read that a HIV doctor said he has never seen anyone test positive when they had a 8 week negative. of course there is a chance you could be positive IF you were indeed exposed to HIV and seroconverted. I think 6 weeks is a very magical point in testing and a 12 week is like heaven.

If I had a 6 week negative test following low risk exposures, would further testing be suggested by experts???
I know nothing is conclusive until 12/13 weeks, but if one combines the nature of risk with the 6 week result, isn't it an almost confirmatory result?

Your risk does carry weight in terms of testing and your odds of infection decrease after a negative 6 week test. Still, low or high risk, it is recommended to re-test at 12/ 13 weeks just to make sure as you already know. You can however, breathe much easier now. Your NEG 6 week result combined with your low risk exposure will most likely yield another NEG result at 3 mos. Good luck!
