Mystery Illness, Possible Solution Attn DoucheFace

This thread is about Gulf War Syndrome. Sounds just like what Douche describes. Maybe he isn't crazy. And GWS can be tranmitted casually.

OK so all that was dated from 1996. 10 years ago. Are the vets and their families now all dropping like flies? How about posting something on this that's newer than 1996, otherwise it's just as it sounded, a conspiracy article that went nowhere.

I really think you might have fibromyalgia.

I had a strange flu like illness. Almost exactly like what you describe. It lasted for four months. I was tested for everything. Finally I went to a rheumatologist and was diagnosed with fibromyalgia.

The ringing in my ears I have every day. I have various body aches. Digestive problems are very common with fibromyalgia. Also, tingling hands and feet are common. Feverish hot flashes and night sweats are common with it as well.

I think you may have had a severe viral infection that triggered fibromyalgia. It feels like pure unending hell. No it does not kill you, but it makes you feel miserable.

There are some meds that are known to help. I have read some about "Lyrica" a new drug that is working to keep the pain away for fibro sufferers.

The ear ringing is the worst part. I also have severe body aches and joint pain.

But I am HIV neg.

Yes, I had a doc suggest not HIV but rather HEP when I first went to the emergency room with my numerous symptoms. NO, all tests came back neg. HIV came back neg. I got tested for every STD, all neg.

My doc has fibromyalgia, so she understands. She said it is like being one of the "walking wounded".

This really might be what is going on with you, and all this focus on HIV is preventing you from getting the treatment you need.

Fibromyalgia is not all in your head.

Do a search for it on the internet and see if they have a message board you can ask there.

Hope you find your answers.

Good luck.

Douche,

Yes there are treatments for fibromyalgia. There is no cure, but there are treatments. My doc has fibro and she is great. Go to a rheumatologist to find out if you have it. You should check out some of the fibro forums. Google fibromyalgia symptoms and you will find a lot of support.
