does the western blot take longer to turn positive than the elisa test ? how many weeks ?

it is possible that the western blot takes more time to turn positive therfore the 12 week window.

The only time you need to worry about a WB is if your ELISA is postive. The WB is not a stand alone test. It is a confirmatory test.

As jackie has said, WB is used to confirm HIV infection if ELISA is positive.
