Donating Blood
      #180378 - 03/17/06 02:12 AM

Hey again everyone,

Just to refresh, I stepped on a needle and tested out to 12 weeks - negative. My quick query is whether or not I am able to donate blood now?

Under the extremely unlikely scenario that I was a late seroconverter, would the combined ELISA and NAT test used by the blood bank (I'm now at 14 weeks) ensure that they would catch HIV infection in my blood?

By all rights I should be negative but I would like to clarify that there is no way I could potentially infect someone via this route.

regards from india

You are HIV negative, ergo fit to give blood unless you have some other blood pathogen/infection.

Take Care

God Bless you

Stay Well
