Do they automatically check for HIV in regular blood tests, or if you give blood? If they do check for hiv when you give blood, do they tell you you have it?

No they don't check for HIV in regular blood tests. You need to ask for a HIV test .. Why the worry?

I have had unprotected sex with several people in the past, and lately I have no energy and am always tired. I'm freaking out and paranoid that I have HIV and was wondering if they would check for it in a recent blood test I had. I'm really scared to get tested

HI,
The only way of knowing if you have it or not is by testing. you'd be surprised on how hard it is to get HIV. Its a very fragile virus. No sence of worrying about thie the rest of your life. Go find out so you can get back to your life. For now on always wear latex condoms..

I reread your Thread. If you donate blood then they do check for HIV. The blood bank shouldn't be used as a testing center. Its to help people. Go to your local clinic and get a free test. It takes 20 mins.

I didn't intend to use the blood bank for a testing center. I was just wondering because I gave blood recently and I was wondering if I did have it if they would contact me.

I do know The Red Cross tests the blood it gets from blood donation so "bad blood" isn't given to someone. As far as telling the donor if his/her blood has HIV, they will not let you know. "Bad blood" is distroyed. People who are at high risk for HIV should refrain from giving blood. Hope this helps.

Nope, you need to inform them, even if the lab deals only in HIV/STD testing...
