Some information that i wish to share!
      #177566 - 02/27/06 11:26 PM

Hi,

I was able to meet a specialist yesterday and had a good chat with him. During the conversation, there are some information which i have obtained and would like to share with the forum. He told me that the windows period is 3 months for most cases, however he has seen patients who has past the 3months windows period get infected. He told me that there are some who tested at 4 months, results came out negative and again tested at 7 months, this time the results is positive. They did not test at 6 months because the patient was not free to come for the test. So, he told me that this kind of rare cases do happen...thats y they call it rare. This info would be valuable to all those in the forum, so that you guys can take preventive measures for your loved ones.

Next is the PA test. According to the specialist, PA is a specific test. It is used as a confirmation test.I discussed with him regarding the accuracy of this this test and the P24 antigen. He told me that that the P24 antigen will increase rapidly after exposure and then reduce, however if one is infected, the result will be positive. He told me that he has seen patients who their elisa result is a faint positive, and when they did the PA, it came out negative. However, he has not seen people with negative elisa to have a positive PA result. Thus, he told me that he does not hope that i would be the first case of this kind.

He promised me to do a ELISA, PA and viral load test but in return, to return back to my life if it comes back negative. The previous doctor which promised me to do a PA, however did not live up to her promises. At that moment when she told me the result is negative, i did ask her whether it is the PA result which she is refering....she said yes. After seeing her for a hard copy of result, i notice that the PA was not done...thus i find her very unethical.

Viral load test, according to the specialist will show result of BElow 50 copies, if one do not have the infection. I told him that i saw a write up that the test is is able to show 0 amount of virus, he say it is impossible.

So guys, i am waiting for my blood to be taken this week, and once it is done with favourable results, i can assure you guys that i would be going back to where i left off. According to the specialist, the odds are favourable towards me, and hopefully the outcome is good.

Guys, please pray for me!thank you!

My doc said no one tests positive past 8 weeks, not with the tests we are using these days.

Let's say what your doctor said is true.. someone comes to his office at the 3 months.. test negative.. comes back at 7 months test positive... My best bet is that his/her patient got exposed again and then infected after the 3 months test.. We know a lot of patients don't tell everything to their doctors (fear to be caught in an extramarital, embarrased.. etc). Makes sense?

Okay, but how can we be sure that there was not another exposure between months 4 and 7? You know what I'm saying?

Irregardless. Can't really dwell on one in a million case and waste valuable life Bura. You have already wasted 6 months of your life on something you most likely don't have. Only God can help you at this point.. We at this forum simply can't convince you any more period. Sorry

Firstly, if the patient was tested at 4 months and was negative and later tested at 7 months and was positive, this simply questions the 13 weeks conclusive test, correct??as the doctor says, this is a rare case.the reason i post this is because i would love it if you guys would take preventive measures for your loved ones until you are confident that you don't have it.At least, you won't infect the people you love. The next thing that someone will be questioning is that could the patient be lying about the timing of the exposure?who knows??

I agree with FormerWorry... Though we have to take precautions.. extremes are most of the times harmful. I think the CDC must have some reliable information to make public a 3months mark. Good luck to you.. and I rest my case.

My dearest FORMER ww,

In any part of this posting, did i ask for the forum to convince me that i have not been infected by HIV?Thats why the title of the posting is "Some information that i wish to share".If you are comfortable not having the virus after you have been cleared of your 13 weeks test, then go have sex with your loved ones!!i can only pray for you that your feeling is right as how you would pray for me that i would not be infected. As i said, this info is for you guys who wanna take preventive measure. For myself, i know that the forum can't help me, thats why i wanna test until i am sure!

So Andy, all the best! i do pray for you my brother!

As my posting to FWW, this is just a piece of information that i have received recently...i just thought i wanna share. Just don't wanna see people in the forum, due to over confidence, infecting the poeple they love.it hurts.i am not trying to create any trouble, my info is to share with the forum, it is up to the individuals in this forum to determine their risk appetite. So stocks or bonds....it is up to you guys.nobody can force you!

Still you want to feed somebody else's OCD with your own that is what's going on for so long.
Thanks for the information that you found but most of the time this forum is visited by WWs to get some comfort and your information is in no way comforting and can't be scientifically verified at the same time. Information like that should not be posted without a first hand experience or scientific verification.

Again don't waste your time dwelling on one in a million cases like that! You won't be that unlucky one!! Specially your case was no risk!

No further discussion from my part
Andy

What you say is true, that there are many WW's like me.Also correct, these kind of cases are rare. They do have the right to know this type of rare cases don't they?? Is it better that i keep quiet and let everybody say 13 weeks is sufficient and just wat happens that one of our WW's that falls into this rare case category suddenly decides to have sex and infect other people unknowingly? As i said, i feel that it is important to share this info, and if really u don feel the same, i can't help it!!

bura,
i really don't undrestand the piece of information that you wanna share. 1st you said you spoke to an expert and did a PA test. (by the way what PA stand for? is that westem blot that you're talking about?) and you strongly believe that piece of information that she provide you are true.( tested at 4month - tested at 7month +) and then you said that she didn't actually did that PA test for you and she is unethical?????????? don't you think that you're contradicting of what you say? ohh bura.... poor bura.... anyway, i'm really not in good mood today coz the petrol price is up by RM0.30 per litre. that really piss me off

i think a preventative measure post would be more effective. everyone can beat the "symptoms of HIV" & when to test into the ground... which almost everyone has... but if someone isn't out screwing around & or they are protecting themselves, there isn't a reason to worry & i guess we wouldn't have this problem. there's also a 1 in a million chance that i'm gonna win the lottery... but do i want to waste a million dollars in the hope that i will win - no. you could not have sex for the rest of your life, & test every month for the rest of your life... for what? the point that we are tryyyying to make, is GENERALLY(barring that 1 in a million cases) testing at 13 weeks negative is just that... you are negative.

there are hundreds or thousands of incidences where weird shit happens to people. albinism, dwarfism, rapid aging in babies (don't know the technical name) giant morphism... the list goes on and on. bottom line, pregnant women (i'm sure there are some convinced that something is wrong with the baby) don't keep getting tested over and over and over again because 1 in a million babies are born albino (or whatever the statistic is)

i personally wouldn't feel comfortable with 6 weeks... bam, your negative. i would wait to 13 weeks, and then move on with my life & test yearly.OH WAIT... too late, i am HIV+. i wish i had a preventative measures post to have looked at BEFORE i got it!!
