Window period

What is the "window-period" and how long is it?

This is the time between original infection with HIV and the appearance of Detectable antibodies to the virus, normally a period of about 14-21 days.

notice how they are not saying 14-21 months ? This is not a conspiracy, HIV antibodies show up in the first few weeks after infection. A negative test at 12 weeks is more than conclusive, any test after 6 weeks IS YOUR STATUS.

keep in mind two things....

1 hiv affects everyone DIFFERENTLY

2. any facts or figures are based on, and really only actually apply to the small group they studied, when they formulated all the statistics

None of the CDC,WHO,UNAIDS,etc have researched the 40 million that have this, to reveal an accurate statistic or research. Most testings they do concerning early stage infection is with lab born virus, and its VERY different than how the actual virus acts within the human body.

Be very,VERY, careful of what you read/believe on the internet.

you are being very irresponsible . you are misreading what W"HO is saying, people react differently to the virus , the reaction can start as short as that time period not that everyone does, please try to get that through your head before you get yourself infected because you believe someone 5 week test is gospel and you tell someone else you are neg when you are really not because you misunderstood what you read. love and peace

the only time i tell people to test is when they are not comfortable with the results, i have never told someone not to believe a 12 week test, i told people on this forum consistantly that 13 weeks is a definitive test. take or leave it , i really dont care what you think about me or the name calling but i wlill stop you spreading false info and putting lives in danger. you are the lowest form of a coward!
i never did thank you for the name change i like and have started using it.
