symptoms and skin changes
      #177165 - 02/25/06 05:27 AM

5 weeks ago I had a potential exposure to HIV after having unprotected sex with a girl of unknown status. A few days later I had a sore throat, swollen glands and low grade fever. My sore throat and fever have subsided and today one gland in my neck was swollen a little more than usual. I have also noticed changes in my skin - firstly, I have more moles appearing on my body and secondly I am finding white spots that range in size over my body (legs/waist/ chest back and now face) if they are on an area where I have hair, no hair seems to grow there or has fallen out. Somtimes these white spots/blotches have a little redness around them. Are these symptoms of ARS?

hi

regards from india

Diagnosis based on symptoms experienced is highly unreliable and unwarrented. You enegaged in unprotected sex, however the ODDS are in your favour of NOT having contracted HIV. HIV is a hard virus to transmit, moreso from a female to a male.

Having said that a test at 12 weeks is warrented. If you feel worried about the symptoms you are experiencing, get them evaluated from your health care provider.

Goodluck

If you read back through the archives you would see this same thing 1000 times. Also you don't have symptoms a few days later. It is so funny how people think just because they have sex they are infected even if the other party was HIV negative, the odds of you getting HIV female to male are about 1 in 1000 acts even with a known HIV+ partner. I am not saying it is imposable I am saying your chances of finding someone who is infected and them letting you have unprotected sex with them is very low. Now all of the other STD’s are real easy to catch you should check for those and if you want also check for HIV just so you know you are negative and haven’t been infecting others.
