got herpes and HIV?

Ok so 7 weeks ago I had sex with a guy I met and he told me he doesnt have HIV. Well about 14 days later I noticed I got infected with herpes. This had to of been from him since I never had it before. I wasnt sure how I got it since we had protected sex. But I assume that because it is a skin to skin transmission I probably got it because of that. However about 3 weeks after the encounter I got a really bad "flu". no diarhea or swollen lymph nodes, but I had other symptoms. So I went and got tested the week after (week 4) and tested negative. I know that is kind of early to test but I felt ok afterwards. But now, week 7 I have been running a temp between 99.1-99.9 fahrenheit. Is that a concern? Once in a while I'll get slightly red at the face and neck. My lymph nodes aren't swollen and I have no other symptoms, but I still have myself convinced I got infected, even though I didnt have unprotected sex, I feel maybe the person I slept with maybe had hiv and didnt know it and that I got infected with herps and hiv at the same time.
please help.

herpes is possible, as for hiv, a condom will protect you from getting it. The thing with HIV/Aids is.... Those who dont think they have it, very well could, without even knowing...so your best bet is to always practice safe sex, with latex or polyurethane condoms, and plenty of water based lubricant*...until you KNOW the have tested themselves

well it was protected sex thats the thing, but I still got herpes. That is what weirded me out. I have been a wreck since though not knowing for sure. I tested negative but that was only week 4....now it is week 7 and I want to go again but i know it isnt long enough. I am not able to live a normal life til then though :( I am pissing my mom and my close friends off because every little symptom I get I freak out about. :(

i just wish someone would reply and say something to make me calm down or feel better.....cuz I sure am not feeling better on my own!
nothing with the guy was unprotected...but you know somehow i got herpes soo....i am freaked out!

Herpes is far easier to get than HIV. Herpes also can have a seroconversion illness that is not unlike the acute retroviral syndrome associated with HIV infection. Don't panic.

thank you for that....i was feeling pretty good until a couple days ago i noticed I had a fever....ick! Earlier in my life I never thought twice of a fever...now I feel like shit! I refuse to check my temp again when i noticed I had a fever 3 days in a row

Yes, herpes could be transmitted through direct skin-to-skin contact. Probably that is the reason behind you getting infected in terms of herpes. However you need to perform a test for herpes, if you havent performed a test as yet.
If you had protected sex and the condom did not fail, you where protected all the while. Consequently you have no reason to worry regarding HIV and testing is unwarrented.
Symptoms are deceptive, ergo diagnosis based on symptoms is a fruitless endeavor.

Had protected sex is not 100% sure to stop STDs.
If he has oral herpes,and you got oral sex,you may get infected with herpes also.
Go test again and wish you the best.
