My doctor is going to draw some blood on Thursday because I am pregnant and she does all type of pre-natal testing. I may be at risk due to sharing a lancet with someone who is gay but I don't know if he is HIV (see "Am I At Risk" post below). What type of test should she use to see if I have the HIV virus? This incident happened in January and it is now almost four months later. I took a test in mid-February which was negative but now I want to set my mind at ease that I am truly negative. I have my baby and my husband to think about and I don't want to have to worry about this throughout my entire pregnancy. Do I need to wait three more months or will I get a valid test now and if so, what test do I need to take?
Thanks!

I understand you are worried but you need to stop this. Do not add to your stress the answer was given to you in your other post. at this point all you need is an Elisa test. you should also stay away from these sights, you have gotten the info you need and all that can happen now is you start reading too much of this and convince yourself that you are poz (if you haven't already). please don't... it is all to easy....

Initially, I suggested a PCR because I was under the impression that you had a recent exposure; however, the poster below is correct ..... an Eliza will be quick, easy, cheap, and accurate at this time. Take the test and carry on ..... you'll be negative!
