sign of hiv? very scared
      #176068 - 02/20/06 02:36 PM

I have been with my bf for a little over two years and we have had unprotected sex. I now have a swollen throat and swollen lymph nodes in the neck that have lasted about nine months. I have also been having other problems such as frequent urination of loss of vision. I am terrified of getting tested..so my question is
can these already be signs of hiv, and has anyone who has hiv experienced a consistent sore throat after being newly infected? All I do is think about this daily 24/7 so please help!

honestly it could be a number of things. for instance do you smoke? like i should talk but that can do it for sure, how about a dry work environment, or home? typically blood when you blow your nose would indicate that. but aside all, worse case it takes 7 days for a hiv test result, do it and put that part of your nerves at rest.

thanks for the reply, i am terrified to go but I guess thats a part of life. I do have blood when I blow my nose and also sometimes in my phlem, I don't smoke...but i did for about two years ... this was about three years ago could this be a cause of the swollen glands and throat?

hi

regards from india

Unlikely those swollen lymph nodes are related to HIV. ARS symptoms are of febrile nature and concurrent. These symptoms occur 2-4 weeks post exposure. if you feel worried you may want to test. Use condoms in future.

Goodluck
