Hi,
I recently had an unprotected incounter in South America. About three days later I experienced a discharge as well as pain duting urination. My main concern is that after doing some research on the web it seems the odds of contracting HIV (femal to male) in places like Asia, Africa and South America are higher than they are here in the US. Does anyone here have an info on this? I am already headed to the doctor Tuesday, I was just hoping somebody cuold throw some numbers at me. Thanks for reading.

hi
regards from india
Indeed HIV is a hard virus to transmit, moreso from a female to a male. However i couldn't come across any literature which supports your claim, which says "the odds of contracting HIV (femal to male) in places like Asia, Africa and South America are higher than they are here in the US".
Testing at 12 weeks is warrented for the exposure you experienced.
Various STD's including HIV could be transmitted through unprotected sex. If you feel worried you may want to get your symptoms evaluated from your health care provider.
Goodluck
