Reasons for a false-positive?

I made an appointment to have a rapid test done tomorrow, but am not clear if it's the blood or saliva test. My question is: what are some of the factors that could possibly create a false-positive test, particularly for the oral test? I've had gingivitis for a little while due to lack of nutrition from past eating disorders and am scared that could affect the saliva. Also, I am now just getting over a 4-6 day cold so I'm wondering if that will show up as a virus in my system. I also have genital herpes but haven't had an outbreak in quite a long time (when I had them, they were always quite tame). My mother has hep C but it's not certain whether I do or not -- could this also cause a false-positive test? Thank you!

hi
regards from india
Nothing you report can cause the test to be inaccurate. False positive occurances have been reported. You may ask the doctor about the sensitivity and specificity of the test, which would be performed.
