I had been silent on the forum for few weeks. Was kind of feeling confident after my 3 months elisa -ve result, despite my nasty ARS (1-3 weeks). my 1 month cd4 : cd8 was 31%:32% But now at 4.5 months cd4:cd8 is 31%:36% The ratio reversed. I guess my cd8 cells are fighting the infection. Thats why i didnt seroconvert at 3 months. Or am I having one of the rare strains ? I am afraid of testing again ....

okay first off lets re word your question, you dont have hiv you may have some virus in your body but it isnt hiv. i have forgotten wheather you have seen a infectious disease doctor about doing titers to other viruses . you say you had a nasty bout of ars , well if you did than you would of seroconverted and it would of been positive . so i doubt that was ars. i hate to say this and i am sure its been said but cd 4 do correspond to stress in the body, this has been proven with medical students taking exams. love and peace

i know cd4 and stress relations. However the % doesnt change much, as indicated by my 2 labs. I am concerned about my rising cd8 and the falling & abnormal cd4/cd8 %

can this actually happen?? can cd8 fight the infection??if the cd8 is fighting, should u not be already positive??according from previos replies, the forum told me that, there is no way that the body can fight the infection and if it is actually fighting, one would be positive by now.

everybody is different as far as hiv goes. What i could gather from Dr mark's columns, both humoral (B cell antibody) and cellular immunity (T cell). There might be some relation between the antibody production and suppresor cell, but normally suppressor cells destroy hiv infected helper cells. Hence it may not be affected by antibody creation.

hi
regards from india
If you have tested negative at 3 months, it is UNLIKELY you are infected, unless ofcourse you have a underlying condition of an autoimmune disease.
Goodluck.

gppg, what you are saying does not make sense. b cell make antibodies, t cell are suprressors and helpers . unless like ravi says there is an underlying autoimmune problem which they can test you for you dont have hiv. cd8 can increase in all kinds of things like STRESS but also some not so pretty things like certain cancers in the blood. leave the hiv alone and find out whatelse if anything is going on. love and peace
