Fever?
      #17378 - 04/14/01 06:20 PM

Hey Guys,

I recently began taking my temperature and to my surprise they are normal (98.8 or less) even though I feel warm. So maybe all this time I didn't have a fever at all. It was just my nerves.

My advice to anybody who is concerned is that feeling warmer than usual doesn't mean fever. This has made me feel more relieved but I'm still worried, at about two weeks from hitting the three-month-after-exposure mark.
I know it's unlikely that that stripper was nursing but I still have some symptoms (stomach discomfort, pain in the groin).

If I had only not used the tongue scraper that day!

Well, maybe that increased my risk a litte but hopefully it's still low.

God bless you all my brothers and sisters.

Larry

okay larry,..somoene needs to me straight with you so it will have to be me.

there is leterally 0% chance you have contracted HIV from the encounter you have described. that said, since you continue to obsess you CLEARLY require professional help. Maybe an anti-depressant/OCD type medication will be presecribed,..maybe it won't. but you obviously lack the fortitude to overcome this without outside help.

so get some!

it's nothing to be ashamed of. you'll be helping yourself.

Larry:

I'm afraid I have to concur with the anonymous poster. You're chances of infection are so remote, you have a better chance of being struck by lightening than being infected by HIV. You're grasping for straws that you don't need. This obsession is going to affect almost every aspect of your daily life (if it hasn't already). Seek counseling. I did. It made a world of difference for me and put my "possible" exposure into perspective. I was also put on meds. It's nothing to be embarrassed or ashamed about. But, I strongly encourage you to seek counseling. Take the advice you've received from others on this board. You must realize by now your chances of infection are NIL. Stop searching the web for HIV literature. I did the same thing and turned my life upside down for 4 months.

Best of Luck.

Stef

I concur with the other posters, Lawrence. This is surely not your first time obsessing, and it may very well be time to face the REAL problem now. Obsessing on HIV is just a symptom to what is really going on with you - please look into an OCD specialist. God bless.

Thank you all guys for your words. I hope you're right and all these symptoms I still have are related to OCD instead of HIV infection. As you say Stef, maybe I should stop surfing HIV websites but here I find support from you people that I can't help it. You see, I just moved to a different state and the only peolpe I know are my co-workers. I don't want to tell them because I fear I might have problems in my job if I turn pos (it's a hospital).

I haven't told anybody else outside you guys here, that's why your words of support mean so much for me. I know I'm weak and I'll try to seek counseling as you suggest after I get tested (just about 2 weeks away).

Thanx again and may God almighty bless you all. Happy Easter.

Larry

Larry, I know exactly what you feel at the moment. The worse will be over once you get your result. Stop punish yourself. HIV is not so easy to get.
