hiv from oral sex?

Hi everyone. I recently had unprotected oral sex (i am female and was performing it on the guy. he didn't ejaculate in my mouth) and I've started freaking out about possible exposure to hiv. I've read on the internet that it is defenitely possible, but its hard to find consistent info. the thought of waiting 3 months to get tested is driving me crazy. any advice?

Hi Sarah, your risk is very very low, 1 in 10000 if your partner was positive and that is a big if, also since he didnt ejaculate that makes the odds even better, one san fracisco study show zero percent transmission in oral sex and a spainish study did the same, there have been a handful of transmissions with oral sex but they are all questionalble, hope this helps, love and peace

You risk is so small that testing would be purely optional.. Think in terms of the "real world". How many B/J do you think are happening right at this moment?? Now if HIV was easily transmited this way we would have no traffic to worry about now would we? Have a great day.

Hey Sarah- I am in the same situation. And my name is Sarah as well ;)
I tested negative at 4 and then again at 6 weeks (rapid, then ELISA tests) and the counsleors were very firm in their belief that a one time oral sex encounter, especially w/o ejaculate, would not put me at risk. The rapid test counselor out right said this. The Health Department counselor infered this- he said that he could not say no risk, but in all his year he's never seen transmission this way, even with people who give oral to LOTS of people.
I also had a trip to the ER, right aroun 4 weeks, for a sore throat and what I thought was thrush (it wasn't) I explained everything to the doc, who has done lot's of work at our University Hospital with HIV pos mothers and babies, and he said the risk was too smal lto even put a number on.
Al lthat being said, I am goign to get a final test at 13 weeks for peace of mind. If you are nervous, you might want to do the same..... just to get it out of your head.

word to the wise for future reference, if you dont want to worry about this again, (even though your risk is almost non existant)carry dental dams with you or saran wrap. just a little note on safer sex.love and peace
