Gee I hope you people don't get sick of me! I've just been so scared and I have so many questions and this is really my only means of finding out information. I read that one symptom of HIV is swollen glands and Lymph nodes. Where exactly are they? Would I know if they were swollen? Also I've read that another symptom is joint pain. Just today my shoulder got really sore and I was wondering if I should be worried about that. Or am I just getting paranoid here? especially since I am not sure of my results yet (for those of you that have been following my posts-only 5 more days!). One good thing though, I made the decision and told my mom about this today and while the was understandably upset, she was also very supportive and told me that no matter what happens she will be there for me and we will work it out together. One more question, what can I do about treatment if I turn out positive, because I have no health insurance or medical coverage. Any suggestions?

kay, i just had to write you again, read this carefully! i mean really read this ok, kay, i have known PERSONALLY several people who have had false positives, both men and women. i beleive with all of my heart after reading all you have written that you are one of these people. if your western blot had shown bands, then we could be freaking out with you, but that was NOT the case. you need to FIND the money to get a pcr viral load test or DNA test to get a peice of mind. YOU MUST DO THIS. you can do it, call an infectious disease doctor, tell them what is going on (you can speak with a nurse) she most likely will be very compassionate and she will probably find a way that you can make payments. ask your mom if you must but get this done. this will probably be the end to your fears, now about the glands, which i hate to even talk about because now you will probably freak out and check yourself 24 hours a day but they are located in the armpits, deep sometimes , they are round moveable, sometimes tender, they will feel like anything from beans to walnuts, there are glands in the backs of your knees, your groin especially, and the neck(front and back) they will all feel like the ones i described for the arms. if you had swollen galdns you would probably know it. go ahead and check yourself, let me know what you find but dont repeatedly do this! it will drive you crazy, i have been there. if nothing else go to revco and get a homeaccess test and see if it is positive. they are called homeaccess, do not do one that isnt fda aprooved. this one is, you can get it at any drug store or look up homeaccess online. NOTHING ELSE, no other home tests are aprooved. i am so glad you told your mom, you need her now. please dont let fear destroy you yet ok? i know a man who had every symptom imaginable and he tested false positive on a pcr test and he went insane. it has now been 3 years and he is still NEGATIVE, he was a flase positive. please beleive me, you are so far looking really good, this test you had would have been a true positve IF it had pos. bands on it. kay, get a hold on yourself, you are ok, i feel sure. you need to do what i have told you, find a way. your sanity can get pretty out of hand if you wait 6 more months till you find out for sure. GO GIRL! now! i mean it! please, for me. love, jess you can email me if you still have my address. take care, dont worry!

You are just getting paranoid. If you need to talk to someone, you can always call--24 hours a day the National AIDS hotline. There are some nice people there and it's free and anonymous--1-800-342-2437. And just remember it's hard to get HIV and really easy to get herpes and HPV and other stds! so I hope you got tested for these things! And if you are positive and have no insurance you can apply for medicaid. Anyway, most people who are positive do not take medication immediately. Good LUCK! Let us know here how your test comes out!!! Grant

Thanks for the number! It will come in very handy for those pesky middle of the night panic attacks that I've been having. I tried calling crisis services once, but when I told the woman what I was going through, she just said "OH my god that's HORRIBLE! I don't even know what to say!". Needless to say she was not much help. I am trying to keep busy, but it's hard not to dwell on this. At least I only have 3 more days to go! KAY
