HIV Test Methods

Had about all the symptoms except a fever. I have been tested for HIV four times: at 7 weeks, 14 weeks, 17 weeks, and 27 weeks and each time negative. My concern is the testing method. One test was a rapid test but the other three were Particle Agglutination (PA) test not an ELISA/WB test. My questions are: 1) Is Particle Agglutination an accepted method? For example, Does the CDC advocate a certain test method when it states to test out to 6 months? 2) Is a PA test as accurate/sensitive as an ELISA? 3) Is it possible to be negative on the PA test but positive on an ELISA?
I appreciate any information.

I believe you are negative. Only with one elisa at 7 weeks you are covering 95%, the other test are ok as well..I do not know your risk level, .. I suggest you test with Elisa now and you will know 100% sure you are not infected in a couple of days. Zimmer ( nice orthopedic company , which I know very very well) regards

Thanks for your response. I live in Japan and the usual test method here is to perform a PA test first. If that is positive then the do an ELISA / WB to confirm. From what I found on the net the PA method was popular 10 years ago. Sensitivity seems to be same as ELISA but when I read the body.com appears they advocate testing via ELISA. The Japanese doctor said I was negative but still don`t feel great, had many symptoms (rash, wieght loss, etc), and my risk was fairly high. Went to a sex shop and had oral (both insert/recept) with a tranvestite. First time with dancing on the other side so to speak.
PS no relation to the orthopedic company, unfortunately
