To All Experts - HIV Life Outside Body

Does anyone know how long HIV can live in semen once it is outside the body? I was exposed to semen of unknow status and I'm concerned I could be in infected with HIV (or any thinkg else?) through a dig in my finger. Four weeks later I have had a sore throat, congestion, low grade fever, cough, achiness in grown, stomach and under arms.

HIV does very bad outside the body. It doesn't die on contact as some suggest, however as the fluid dries it becomes less infectious.
Now what does this mean to you? You are a WW so you will use anything to believe you have had it,right?
HIV is a weak virus to begin with it is hard enough to get with anal sex never mind a small dig in your finger. If that is your only exposure you are fine. I would not even get tested for it but if you must get a test in 6weeks it will be NEG.

Although HIV can be kept alive under certain laboratory conditions, many agree that the virus does not survive well in the environment, it dies within seconds after it is exposed to the environment.
I doubt you were at risk from the exposure you describe, honestly worries,testing and anxiety pertaining to HIV is unwarrented.

Thanks for responding.
I think becasue I've had symptoms for about 8 days now that started 4 weeks after the potential exposure is driving me crazy.
I posted to "ask the experts" on this forum but left what I originally posted her out. What I originlaly asked the Experts was prompted when I had contact with a prostitute who I felt becasue of her body language was on something so eventually I only masturbated and we had no intercourse or oral sex BUT...
she did have a bad cough and nasal congestion ..... unfortunaltey we did kiss (not deeply), I did such her breasts, and she did set on my lap with only thin panties and me in my boxers and at one point my penis was exposed. Twice while trying to kiss her forward she riased her head so I actually kissed her nose. Could I have been exposed throguh nasal conjestion or any other part of our encounter?

I guess my concern is that the semem I placed my hand into was not dry but still a glob. I understood HIV lives on in blood until after it dries so my concern is the same for semen. Let's say the semen could be as fresh as 10 minutes, could the virus still be infectious enough to infect me?

I guess my concern is that the semem I placed my hand into was not dry but still a glob. I understood HIV lives on in blood until after it dries so my concern is the same for semen. Let's say the semen could be as fresh as 10 minutes, could the virus still be infectious enough to infect me?
