I was test negative after 18 weeks exposure by HomeAccess HIV-1. Anyone know what generation of HIV-1 test kit is. I was told it's gen one. Is 18 weeks conclusive for gen one test?

Here is comment from Dr. Bob on essentially the same question you asked.
http://66.102.7.104/search?q=cache:gS-DDvnYPUUJ:www.thebody.com/Forums/AIDS/SafeSex/Archive/Testing/Q149491.html+hiv+generation+window+period&hl=en
HomeAcess is 1st generation.
The CDC recommendation to test out to 6 months, is in IMHO, a reference to the 1st gen tests out there.
For example, it is clear from the following statement from the New York State Dept. of Health
http://www.hivguidelines.org/public_html/center/clinical-education/q-and-a/update.htm
that their recommendation to go to a 3 month window period was due to 2nd (1990 onwards) and 3rd generation tests (I don't remember when the first 3rd generation test was deployed, I think it was in early to mid 90's)
Whether you test out further beyond 18 weeks depends on your risk exposure as Dr. Bob points out.
Happy Thanksgiving.

hi
regards from india
You need not worry about the generation, by 12 weeks even first generation tests pick up the virus, your 18 week test is conclusive...you are HIV negative!
i believe home access is a fourth generation test.
stay well
take care
god bless you
