Should I be worried if I developed pain with swallowing about 8 weeks after a sexual encounter? (Insertive oral, partner status unknown, but presumed negative...). After a week this turned into a regular common cold, and then I felt fine 3 days later.

Risk is almost nil.....sore throat sounds like the beginning of a cold. Be safe.

Thanks a bunch for the reply, I have stayed safe since then, not gonna put myself through that kind of anxiety again. i figured that since it turned into a cold that it was nothing serious, but theres always that one part of my mind that wants to make me afraid of nothing, lol.

This is why counselors always tell people NOT to stress about supposed ARS symptoms. A sore throat is an indication of ARS, but it's also an indication of about a ZILLION other things, including a common cold. ARS symptoms are highly non-specific.
I agree with Faith -- your risk is virtually nil. (If by "insertive oral" you mean you were the one doing the inserting.)
