Your thoughts on my risk...help me to relax
      #162444 - 10/21/05 04:28 PM

Over the past 6 months I have had 3 encounters. One unprotected oral (I was insertive) along with protected anal. Then two more insertive unprotected orals. Six weeks after the last encounter I had an ELISA test done which came back negative.

Now that helps me to rule out anything from the first two encouters (6 months and 4 months ago). However, my concern is with the last unprotected oral. The giver stated that he is HIV-. I guess that is one plus, however, he did not give the best oral and during the process created a small inflamed/raw area on the side of my penis with his teeth. No real visible bleeding, but some level of exposure. Three weeks after that exposure, I woke up one morning with a white slimy tongue and diarrhea. Now the tongue coating has gone (basically went away that day). The diarrhea lasted about 2 days kind of cleared up then came back and kind of cleared up again. Since waking up that morning I have been overly stressed and concerned about my status. I think that has greatly contributed to the bowel issues. I cannot say that I have had any other symptoms other than those two. Oh yeah, I feel tired and worn out every now and then, but I am also linking this more to stress and anxiety than anything else (or at least I am telling myself that).

So, I got the ELISA at about 4.5 weeks which is about a week after my supposed symptoms appeared. If those things were related to an HIV infection, would the test have told me something other than non-reactive? That is, one week after symptoms appeared would I have a good chance of having a positive test if I was positive? I plan on getting another test at 3 months anyways....and the positive result lowered my anxiety for about a day...but I just can not shake it totally....

Thanks for any thoughts...

Ken

Ken,

If your getting a BJ in my eyes theres really no risk unless the person blowing you was bleeding from his mouth. Then theres a small risk. If no blood is involved then there isnt any risk. If your giving a bj then theres a small risk and if no semen involved its lower then that. I would not worry over your incounters. How HIV is spread is unprotected vaginal and anal sex along with IV users. In very rare cases giving a BJ but it can happen. Getting a BJ I dont think so.

i am not trying to be rude, but instead of concentrating on whether you have hiv from a bj, concentrate on what is causing you not to protect yourself, then you won't have the stress and worry as to if you are infected or not! you say you have had 3 tests now from different encounters in the last 6 months, why would you keep putting yourself in situations to be infected? just some advice and no i don't think you need to worry at this point, but future reference- wrap it and you won't have to worry!

Hmm, bad writing on my part. I have had 3 encounters and other than the oral part they were protected. I have only had one test. Basically with anal protected and nothing else. Yes, I am a little more free-wheeling when someone is giving me oral....probably not anymore....

Ken,

Your activities are extremely low risk. Getting a blow job is a risk only in the strictest theoretical sense (I don't believe anyone has ever been infected that way) and having anal with a correctly used condom is not risky at all. The abrasion on your penis would have been a risk to your partner had you been infected, but I can't believe it would pose any danger to you. I'd say your risk assessment plus your negative tests ought to relieve you of any anxiety.

Steve
