Question about full STD panel time period
      #161934 - 10/15/05 05:53 PM

I am getting into week 8 of my last possible exposure and I have some questions. I know that 3 months is the relative window for HIV and most STD's, but I need to and want to be caertain. I plan to test at 3 months, 6 months, and 1yr. I want to receive a full STD panel and test out for any known STD to man. Is it worth getting this test performed at 3 months, or is that not accurate enough. If it is accurate then I will just go back for confirmatory HIV work at the 6 month and 1yr. mark. Would it just be better to take a reliable HIV test at 3 months and the full panel at 6months or even at the 1yr. mark. What do you all think.

there is no need to wait for a full std panel. (well, ok, yes, there is always a wait with something). but most std's will present themselves anywhere from 7 to 21 days after occurance.

Since you are already at the 8 week mark you can get tested for them now. (they can be very uncomfortable if you do have an std, so you dont want to wait till the hiv test).

when you get your hiv test, also get a syphillis test as well. those are the only 2 std's that you need to have your blood drawn for.

i wish you all the best.
