Hey gang! Lately, it seems highly agree upon that true ARS symptoms show up at once, and pretty much leave in the same fashion. Not trying to sound argumentative, but is that substantiated by most of the research? I was just wondering. I must admit, my symptoms (and there have been many), have come and gone for weeks. Painful nodes one day, muscles aches the next, headache a few days later, etc. The only thing that has been consistant has been the damned reddening on my chest, arms, and neck ..... and I often have a rather red chest (I live at the beach). I'll tell you good people, at times I'm convinced that I have this, and at other times, I think this is all psychosomatic. I guess only time will tell. As far as the insomnia thing goes ...... I have that as well ...... but my word, with all the stress about HIV, it is no wonder. I was telling a friend the other day, "I remember when the big scare was herpes. It was a big deal in the early 80's because everyone was amazed that once you get it, it never goes away." Well, my friends ..... I'd take herpes any day of the week in order to get out of this mess. It just seems so unfair that the stakes are so high. Oh well ..... sorry for going on so much. Anyhow, if anyone has any info. on ARS not coming going gradually/in stages, I'd like to know. Chow.

Go check out The Body's Insight from experts section and search under ARS there are plenty of reports and percentages for you to read up on. It also has what the most common symptoms are as well as what ones are normally linked together BUT....YOU CAN'T GO BY SYMPTOMS!!!!!!! look at all the people out there that swore they were poz based on the symptoms only to test negative time and time again. Good luck

Okay...let's clarify; for those that DO experience ARS symptoms (not everyone does or at least the symptoms are so insignificant they go unnoticed) the symptoms generally appear at once and then go away on their own and the person feels normal. ARS symptoms generally do not come and go, come and go, come and go for several weeks. This is not a symptom of HIV infection.

I remember the "herpes scare"! What a joke! I've had it since college in the mid 80's and it's an occasional annoyance but it's NOTHING compared to what I've been through in the past 3 months.

ARS is a condition that presents as a constellation of symptoms. It comes on all at once and leaves in the same fashion. It usually occurs 2-4 weeks post infection and does not "come and go" as you infer. It has been described as a mono or flu type illness.
Hope this helps.
God Bless
