DR gave odds
      #159902 - 09/12/05 09:19 AM

i was tested for HIV at 1 month from possible vaginal exposure, the results came back negative. The dr told me before the results came back that it would be 70% of being accurate, does that hold water? He also said that i could test again at 3 months for peace of mind. So i'm debating that. Of course like a moron i had to read about the symptoms and well with the weather change and everyone i work with having alergies or colds. I've got a stuffy nose, with drainage down the back of my throat i'd say the drainage makes my throat sore, can't say i have nite sweats cuz i've always sweat in my sleep, also feel fatigued but that's because i just started to work 3rd shift and try to sleep during the day. I have not noticed any white spots on my throat, and i can't tell if i have swollen glands in arm pits, neck or groin. Only other thing is the tip of my tounge feels kinda numb, and my taste buds feel aggitated, but i'm wondering if thats from all the extra stress i addes to my life worrying and smoking more. Any imput would be greatly appreciated, thanks

I don't know the odds of the test being reliable...but I can tell you that the tingling tongue is likely from stress...and the more you look for symptoms, the more you will find because you will actually make yourself sick.

i have to entirely agree there, my tension headaches are alot worse now, and so is my acid reflux. the medication i take for the acid reflux doesn't work hardly anymore.

Nasal symptoms (your stuffy nose) are not typical of acute HIV infection. As for the odds, the CDC says 25 days is the average time it takes for people to form antibodies. A test at three months is definitive.
