Do you understand the difference? By your question, I guess you don't.
Just to make it easier on myself I'll post a response from GMan from 2 posts down.
Quoting.
The first and second gen tests are still being used because they are plentiful and inexpensive, and yes there have been enough research and consistency tests on the first gen tests to show they are accurate, consistent and conclusive for detecting at or before the 6 week mark with les than .01% false positives. There has never been a problem with them giving false negatives. All of this information has been gone over many times in these boards for many years but it seems that people lately think that they are the only person going through the window period and there situation is exclusive. Even though none of us get paid to help in here I guess we are expected to be the secretary and go track down all the information and do the research which is readily available in these posts back on the board and in the reading sections in the HIV websites which it seems no one will read or they do not want to understand what is in them.

So that is why they use the 2nd generation tests

ok, So there inexpensive....could kind of figure that but i thought one of the main reasons the window period was shortend to 3 months was the fact of newer generation test's? This is really pissing me off because the first test i took at 7 weeks was done by labcorp and later i found out it was only a 2nd generation test so i called another testing service at 10 weeks and asked what generation test they use and they told me 3rd generation, so i took the test even though it was twice the price of the last test and they sent me to a labcorp site and then i tested at 12 weeks at the same place threw the same testing service and now i find out threw other post's that Labcorp is using second generation test's......This is really bothering me because i paid extra because i wanted a newer generation test that they claimed they provided. I called them today and asked them what generation test's they use and they said the newer test's then i said what generation? then they told me third generation...then i told them that i recently learned that Labcorp use's 2nd generation test's and she was kind of dumb founded for a lil and i told her i asked them before i took these tests about the generation used and they said third and it was the reason i agreed to purchase the test......then she tells me at 12 weeks it doesnt matter what test you take your fine.....i told her maybe yes maybe no but i purchased the test because u told me it was a third generation test, then she ask's me if i called labcorp and asked them i said i called and since today is a saturday no one there could answer my question ......then she tells me third generation are only a lil bit better earlyer during the infection.....im still really pissed....im calling labcorp monday to ask them about there test's and if they dont use 3rd generation essays im going to call this F*cken service back and demand a refund or atleast the price differnce between my first test and these 2 recent test's....im still pissed and norw scared because i used a test that 15 years old........i went today(14 weeks) and did another test at quest labs with a third generation test(40 dollars cheaper by the way) and now i got to wait again

What do u mean stop screwing around......i been stressed out for the last 8 weeks since my symptoms began after a possible exposure to a high risk girl im sorry if u think i've tested to much but that's what the stress and anxiety has been doing to me..... now this F*cken shit has made it worse....besides being screwed for double the price im stuck with results from a test that been around since atleast 1990

This just seems to be an informational problem with LabCorp, if they told yousmething worng you should ge a refund. But what is more important is the accuracy of the tests and they are ALL accurate. Just because the test is 15 years old doesnt mean it isnt accurate it just means that it was developed 15 years ago.
So congrats on you being negative, focus on that

Thanks for the nice reply..... It just pisses me off because im having a hard enough time excepting the 12 week test as a 3rd generation and finding out it was only a second generation makes me feel like im taking my 12 week test all over again.......I plan to speak to labcorp monday and get to the bottum of this and if they do use third generation or not... i am going to try to get some money back or atleast have them pay for the third generation test i took today and call it even......but the money isn't what is bothering me right now its the dam test

Yesterday i called Labcorp and asked them which test's do they use and the lady said she try'd getting ahold of someone in serology but couldn't but she spoke to a co-worker and was told that he thinks they do use generation 2 test's Then i called the testing service i used and told them the story and he told me to hold on the line and he's going to look it up He come back on the line and tells me they use the 2nd vervsion of the 3rd generation test or some shit and telling me i misunderstood or was misinformed So i called the same lady at labcorp back and she tracked where my blood sample was send too but she still cant get ahold of anybody at serology to find out This was yesterday and im still waiting to see what she come's up with
I've also took 2 pcr-dna's at 7.5 weeks and 9.5 weeks its the only thing thats keeping me sain untill i get my 3rd generation results(hopefully today) From Quest labs
Will write back and tell u what they say
