Waiting for test results

I'm currently waiting for my 3 month ELISA results following unprotected vaginal intercourse with a woman I am fairly certain is in a low risk category. A similar test at 4 weeks was negtative.
However, about 3 weeks after the encounter I started noticing a number of "weird" symptoms that are somewhat related to acute HIV infection but do not totally match up:
1. Numbness & tingling in arms, face, and legs with occcasional burning on the bottom of my feet (MRI and neurological exam didnt find anything). Numbness and tingling was intermittment over a 2 month period.
2. Altered taste sensation for 2 or 3 days (went away after using mouthwash).
3. Stomach cramping and occasional diarraha over a 3 week period that started about 9 1/2 weeks after possible exposure.
Any thoughts out there if this could be related to acute HIV infection ?

well, its good you were tested, but I wouldn't be overly concerned. you had one encounter with this woman that you may be certain is a low risk. good. but its good that you are being tested, just dont let it consume your every thought. You will be fine. hiv is not an easy virus to catch. even more so, for a male, than it is for a female.
as for your symptoms
1, are you thinking neuropothy.....this would be WAYYY too soon for this!! that is not from hiv. 2, strange taste in your mouth. couldn't be thrush, because that does NOT go away w/ mouthwash. and it is extremely painful 3, (and this could also co-inside with #2) perhaps you ate something that was bad, or didn't agree w/ you.
basically, the only possible symptom you are thinking that is somewhat related is the diahrrea, which is common for anyone to get. I woulndt concern your mind too much with hiv. assure yourself that your test will be fine. please dont look up symptoms on the internet, or anywhere else for that matter. every person at one time or another will feel these symptoms for various normal reasons
good luck, and take care....and please be sure to come back when you get your results.
love and prayers, debbie

Hey Debbie.
Thanks for your thoughts on this. I have been a bit anxious over this whole situation. It has even led me back to the Church which I guess is a good thing in itself.
I made the mistake of going online and comparing symptoms --- everyone has said the same thing as you - -DONT DO IT.
My results may even be available later today -- I need to make a phone call soon.
Take care.

Good for you, I mean being back in church. God has a way of getting our attention. Keep the faith, and I'm sure everything will be just fine. Good luck on your test results. I'm sure it will be negative.
