Hi, I had an ecounter with a guy a couple of weeks ago I performed oral on him and he ejaculated in my mouth, stupid i know. Anyway about a week later i started having a crampy stomach and diarrhea. Then at about 2 weeks past possible exposure I had a fever and bad fatigue and just a feeling on general malaise. At this point (2.5 weeks after possible exposure) I am still having these symptoms and am scared that it is seroconversion. I know they say that oral sex is low risk but because i swallowed and becuase my throat was a little red I am worried that might mean that the odds are stacked against me? any thoughts on this please?

Still i believe it is low risk because the semen needs a path to the bloodstream in order to be a risk. Now u did receieve semen, but did u spit it out or did u swallow?? If u swallowed ur odds increase. Know that it is still very low risk. Your symptoms i believe are not consistent with hiv because as i have read, symptoms come ALL at once, and there is generally fever involved. You had 2 different symptoms 2 weeks apart, therefore they are not consistent with ars. Get a test after 3 months, you will be fine. Take care

I cough tHIV 9 weeks ago via oral sex when the guy came n my mouth. Loads have done it in the past but this time I was unlucky.
My seroconversion illness was fatique, fever, swets, no appetie and feeling very unwell.

How do you know you caught it via oral sex Rich?
Is that the only sexual experience you have had since your last test?

Thanks for all your replies. Yes unfortunately I did swallow, he kinda took me by surprise. To be honest its not something I usually do, I feel so mad at myself right now. My symptoms were cumulative in as much as it started with gastro intestinal symptoms and then also included fever and fatigue all of these things i still have now, does this sound like ARS? I know people say that oral sex is low risk but its still a risk right so I keep thinnking what if i am one of the unlucky ones.

Any sex, whether its protected or not is considered a risk. It's just that some are less risky than others.
The only totally risk free way is to not have sex.

mm i dont know about richie. I dont think you could of caught it only by swalling semen, i mean the expert's odds are .5/10000. It's nearly I MPOSSIBLE to get hiv thru oral, so im guessing you did NOT only have oral sex. Please do not scare people and explain ur situation COMPLETELEY-meaning putting all ur possible risks. HIV is not an easy virus to catch, even rose thru oral.

Yeh i have to admit that richie's post has scared me! But then they say that oral sex is low risk not no risk so its possible right? which is why i'm freaking out right now. What are the documented odds of transmission thu oral sex with ejaculation? is it really as low as .5/10000?

I am in the same boat you are. I gave oral to a guy who came in my mouth in like a minute, caught me off guard and I swallowed. I found out a couple days after the act that he is in fact HIV pos for going on 18 years now. It has been about 6 weeks, so I am about halfway through my "waiting" time until I will test again at 13 weeks, which is when I am told is the best time to test. I am educating myself, and trying to remain calm while I wait. My mind plays tricks on me at times, everytime I feel ill, I get a little anxious, but all I can do at this point is wait and educate, and accept the support of my friends who are aware of what I am going through. Hang in there. I hope it turns out for the best for you and me and everyone else on these boards who is waiting to find out the answer.

Hi, sorry to hear of your recent experience, scary isn't it. Have you suffered any troublesome symptoms since this time? I suppose we have to try and remember that oral sex carries a low risk of transmission and that the odds are in our favour statistically and hopefully we will both be ok. Hang in there and heres hoping that your test result comes out ok.

Please try not to make your self go crazy over swallowing semen. Ok, if you swallowed semen and it did contain HIV, the acid in your stomach as well as thje saliva and acid in your mouth will likely kills the virus. And just get tested.
