Conversion rumor
      #155651 - 05/31/05 05:44 AM

I was told this by a nurse. Bigger people take longer to convert to HIV positive than samller people. I dunno if this is true or not. But I am tall and thin (6-4, 170). So I dunno if my size would affect it. I tested negative at 4 and 8 weeks, so did my ex. Retesting at 13 weeks. Showing symptoms, but nobody involved is testing positive. Wish me luck. And I just thought I'd post this for everyone. I called the CDC the other day and they said these are the new rules of conversion:

Average conversion is 8 weeks
The vast majority convert within 4-6 weeks
97% convert within 3 months
3% convert between 3 and 6 months
And less than 1% convert after 6 months

You can never trust those telephone operators for the CDC. The CDC states that the average time for the development of antibodies is 25 days...not 8 weeks. It's on the website.

That makes a lot more sense when you look at the fact you were also told that the vast majority convert within 4-6 weeks, which is true. The dept. of MA places the figure at about 99% by 6 weeks. If you have an 8 week negative, then your chances of having a negative at 13 weeks are very high indeed.
