Getting out of control.
      #14812 - 01/18/01 07:13 PM

I've read through so many posts, past and recent. Sore nodes??????? Are they swollen, or sore? Big difference.Swollen and sore, or just swollen yeah may be a problem. Just sore? Come on people please that is so psychsomatic. You go to your doctor and they tell you they're not swollen???? I've never heard anything like it.

Can't speak for others, only myself. Yes, sore, painful, burning, or just uncomfortable nodes. One or other of these, virtually constantly, every day for four and a half months and counting.

Psychosomatic? Who knows. Maybe, maybe not. The doc says you can somatize anything, although I've not come across it in the lists of common somatization disorders. Headaches, chest pains, heart problems, yes. Lymph node pain and discomfort? Not that I've seen.

And anyway, in my case, the pain and discomfort preceded me knowing anything about the relationship between the lymph node system and infection, or even where the lymph node system is!

I'm in the same exact boat as you Kit. My nodes have been getting more and more sore. The number of nodes which are sore has also increased. I made another appointment with my Dr for Jan 31. Not sure what I'm going to ask for. DNA testing, antibody or both. Maybe there is some other problem here. I'll post back here what ever the results are. It should be sometime in early February.

Take Care,
David

I'm in the same boat as KitG and David. Sore nodes in the neck and groin (groin not as constant). But my neck is everyday. Other "symptoms" as well.

Just a question for you guys new

Not that I doubt that you all are feeling unwell but have you all tested for other things as well? Such as herpes, syphillis, all forms of Hepatitis and mono. Those above diseases could make a person feel just as lousy.

I just know that once HIV is on the brain some people wouldn't even consider other possibilities because it becomes an obessesion.

Just my $.02

Tex

Having sore nodes is a good thing! That means your immune system is reacting the way it should. And, by 6 months you would have produced antibodies. I am sure you have all had sore nodes at one point. You just weren't so focused on looking for symptoms.

Psychosomatic can only be an excuse for so long. It can only affect certain aspects of the body. I don't think in any way shape or form that it can make lymphnodes swell and ache all over. That's going beyond the point of the mind. I've tested negative past the 3 month mark and all I can say is that I've tested for all the other std as well as mono and nothing shows up. I have no reason to believe anything but I will test positive for Hiv by the 6 month mark. I've read post about other viruses and infections but the facts are this, people get sick everyday but their symptoms go away with other viruses or infections. Mine have been going on for way too long and some go and others come. The worst is swollen nodes a various sites around the body which I came down with at about 18 weeks or so after exposure. What would you think? Not hiv? I don't think you'd think that and I think, you'd test again.

youd be surprised how long psychosomatic symptoms can persist, and it definitely sounds like it's got ahold of you. Give it a rest and accept a damn test result.
