I had sex with a woman who did not tell me that she was HIV positive until later. Two months after the encounter I developed a tingling sensation in my hands and feet. The headaches, neckaches, joint aches and a sore throat all started after that. I developed no rash or any outbreak on my skin. My doctor started me on antibiotics and suggested that I get an HIV test. I'm waiting for the results. It's been 3 months since the encounter. Are these symptoms attributable to HIV or are they due to some bacteria that her body could no longer fight off?

Well, the symptoms you are talking about aren't all exactly HIV... but COULD be related. Now, as far as it goes, it could be another infection, or it could even be unrelated. But you are in high risk if you had unprotected sex, I won't lie. The only way to find out is testing, but I guess you already took that step. Tell your doctor to check for other possible STD's, since that could be another possibility. Just, even as hard as it may sound, stay calm, with a cool head, since your mind WILL play tricks on you, and put your faith in whatever you do, wether it's Jesus, Buddha or yourself. I think you took the right steps... going to a doctor, getting tested, now it's just a matter of time for you to know your HIV status.
Now, as far as that woman goes... my... I would take legal action against her. I would really do, and, by the way courts handle civil cases these days, there HAS to be a way. I'm just trying to put myself in your shoes and I would really be pissed off. Anyway, concentrate on yourself, and take care of your health.
Good luck Someone

Thanks for the advice. The only thing on my mind is whether I will be HIV positive soon or not. I know that's there is nothing that I can do about it one way or another. I'm just praying to God that I won't show up positive. If I do, I'll just have to take it from there. One last question. If I get back a negative result on my 3 month HIV test, how good are my odds that I'll not be positive when I take the 6 month test?

Well, some web sites will tell you that the 3 month test is 85-90% accurate and that the 6 month test is 99.9% accurate, but those same web sites will tell you that most people will show up positive after just 25 days... there is something wrong there, at least for me. My doctor told me that all this 6 months, 3 months thing are still in debate in the medical community, but as far as anyone can tell you, if you are neg on your 3 month test it's extremely unlikely that you will show up positive on your 6 month test. In fact, if you listen to most people here in the Body, there has been more experiences regarding showing positive first and THEN showing up neg, and finally BEING neg, even if they had one positive test. I'll be praying for you pal. Take care and Good luck

You think he should take legal action against her? Why? He has no responsibility for having unprotected sex?
