Do many people get the feeling that numerous hotlines have peworkers that don't know much about the subject?

No not really.. The CDC and GMHC both have very knowledgable folks. If you ask them specifics about technical issues, they may not know the answer right off the bat, but will try and find out. I asked many times at the CDC about PCR tests, and the folks there found out the answers for me....
Certain states have very mis-informed health departments.. So if you call their hotlines, than you may get someone who doesn't know much.. The state where I live says fingering is a high risk activity.. (What a joke, they have a pamphlet that says it is!! - IT IS NOT A HIGH RISK ACTIVITY!!!!!!!)

GMHC -- I "take it" you believe the 90% at 1 month. Thought the CDC said "average at 25 days" -- meaning {mean, median or mode) vise 90 percent. I don't know what the window period numbers are, but don't believe 90% in 30/31/28 days!
Also had one representative say "you've had it all" {symptoms} -- well maybe I have -- but would you think I would "want" all the symptoms and also possibly a very low cd4 rate also? -- Sounds like fun going straight from negative to AIDS and fore going hiv -- NOT!
Some people at both the CDC and GMHC are 'sharp'. But others are "lost" -- maybe that is why the tape some sessions?
