Testing Information/Do Not compare Symptoms.
      #139449 - 03/31/05 04:23 AM

I STRONGLY SUPPORT THE OPTION OF TWO TIMES (2x) ELISA TESTING !

1st) pre-test on 6-8 weeks timing point.

2nd) final conclusive test on 13 weeks (3 months).

WHY THIS OPTION WITH 2 ELISA TESTS IS GOOD ?

1)

statistical experience in last 20 years says: MINIMUM 97% OF ALL INFECTED PEOPLE WILL SEROCONVERT UNDER THE FIRST 6 WEEKS !

with a new modern technology, and with a new statistics in the last 4 years (2000-2004)
some doctors and researchers in microbiology area even say:

MINIMUM 98.5% WILL SEROCONVERT UNDER THE FIRST 6 WEEKS !

MAXIMUM 1.5% ARE POSSIBLE OUTLIERS FOR 7 WEEKS - 10 WEEKS PERIOD !

these doctors and researchers in microbiology area even say: AFTER 10 WEEKS HIV SEROCONVERSION IS - ALMOST - IMPOSSIBLE !

2)

if someone has ONE TIME (1x) LOW RISK EXPOSURE

then 6 weeks test CAN REALLY HELP HIM to calm down, to stop panic, to relax, to stay cool, to work, until final conclusive 13 weeks test.

if 6 weeks elisa test negative, then he is minimum 97% - 98.5% accurate to expect good news on the final test !

3)

personally, I think that 6 weeks elisa test is BETTER solution than 28. days PCR for ONE TIME (1x) LOW RISK EXPOSURE.

common PCR can not guarantee more than 98% for serious diagnostics ! ( because of possible errors, or undetectable virus level ! )

2% is the usual MINIMAL number of false (errors) on common PCR tests. sometimes that number can be 3% - 5% !

it depends from equipment/machinery !

IF SOMEONE GOT FALSE POSITIVE PCR (even with 100 or 400 copies small number result !),
HE CAN START TO THINK HE IS INFECTED AND ABOUT HOW TO COMMIT SUICIDE !!!

ON THE OTHER SIDE, HE CAN NOT RECEIVE FALSE POSITIVE ELISA !!!

FALSE POSITIVE ELISA IS - ALMOST - IMPOSSIBLE !!!

also,

here in Europe, in some countries where HIV-2 is real
and even HIV-1 I & J strains are possible
patient/client must do perform separated HIV-1 PCR plus separated HIV-2 PCR tests ! that is not a little money !

and PCR test is NOT available in little cities, little towns. only in major cities ! (where are more than 300 000 - 500 000 citizens, or in capital)

on the other side,
almost ALL European countries do one single cheap & accurate ELISA HIV 1&2 test at the same time !

in

almost ALL European cities/towns with population greater than 30 000 - 50 000 citizens have modern good & accurate equipment/machinery for cheap & accurate ELISA HIV 1&2 testing !

also, in a many hospitals/clinics in Europe ELISA HIV 1&2 test is FREE (NO CHARGE = 0.00 EUR = $0.00) !!!

4)

we all know that 3 months is final conclusive for elisa hiv test.

only a very low number (low %), less than 3%

- some doctors and microbiologists say: less than 1.5% !!! -

will seroconvert between 7 weeks and 10 weeks timing point.

5)

if someone got 2 x negative elisa tests,

first on the 6 weeks and
second final conclusive on the 13 weeks,

he will be 100% sure that everything is fine & correct & no mistake & no error.

THAT REALLY HELPS !

I KNOW THAT,

I WORK EACH EVERYDAY WITH CLIENTS/PATIENTS HERE.

6 WEEKS ELISA PRE-TEST REALLY HELPS !!!

that is not wasting of resources, because elisa test is cheap & accurate & secure.

PCR test - for one time (1x) low risk exposure - is the real wasting of resources.

more than 99.99% of exposures in the real world are really LOW.

---

all the best, good luck,

Dr John

thanks , this is nice information to have...very rarely would you find straight forward statistics.
can i ask you for ARS then? what isthe usual timing? and is it possible to have a late ARS?(like 8 weeks after exposure?)
i had a negative at 6/7 weeks after a stupid incident (unprotected insertive with female) and protective insertive with same female while she was menstruating. her status should be neg, but i lost faith in her for several reason (not gonnago into here)
thanks

Hi

I have explained the situation. You have tested neg at 6-7 weeks so this is s a good indicator you will be neg 13 weeks gold seal. The fact is she probably is not HIV pos.

Most people would have been pos by 6-7 weeks. 13 weeks is the indicator to rule out any late people, which is a very small percentage.

Please retest and put this behind you

Good luck

Dr John

In your experience can you be infected through french kissing a positive person? I have been scared because I have a small swollen lymph node behind my ear and it's been 8 weeks since the risk. Everything else was protected. Am I freaking for nothing?
