Hello Doctor, 5 months ago I had unprotected intercourse (once) with a woman I found out used to be an escort. She refused to tell me if she ever tested and I doubt she did. When I found out about this I panicked and became depressed in my fear of AIDs. 2-3 months after last exposure I noticed a floater and that I had tinnitus, mostly at night. My MD tested me via ELISA at 3 months and said "forget about it" and said for peice of mind to test via Home Access if I felt necessary. I went back to him and said that my mouth was dry 4 weeks later. He aid it was dry mouth from stress and urged me to stop worrying and that this stress is very damaging. He tested me again (ELSIA) and it was negative. I just got a 20 week test via Home Access and it was negative. Now, dispite theses weird symptoms that I never had before: floater, tinnitus, dry mouth. Do you think I have HIV? Do I need a brain scan? Is this a tumor? My doctor says to knock off the worrying. I also had a sore throat and runny nose 4-5 weeks after exposure. But it was december and everyone around me had a cold and nasty flu. DO you think I need any more tests for HIV? if I was your patient what would you say? I await your answer and will follow your advise. You are a very kind man Doctor to spend your time answering our questions.

You do not need any more tests to rule out HIV infection.
